Design and architecture seem to go hand in hand and we at Timothy Joseph Interiors are no exception to this rule. Late this past Fall we took a trip to see this historic Edwin Lundie home in Owatonna. It's now known as the Gainey Conference Center owned and operated by St. Thomas University.

Aside from the amazingly beautiful exterior of the main home, there was this very interesting building right in front of the house. We weren't quite sure what it was or how it was used.

Dropped Ceiling

Usually we think of a dropped ceiling in a basement or some other area where we wish to conceal a lot of unsightly ductwork and conduit cables. But here we've decided to add a dropped ceiling to add interest and lighting excitement to a room.

While still under construction, the ceiling houses recessed lighting to aid in lighting the room below along with an Artemide hanging chandelier. Within the recessed area between the real ceiling and our created one, will be soft lighting to give a luminous glow to an otherwise hum drum ceiling without this enhancement.

Sometimes you just see great ideas when you least expect it. That was the case in Chicago when I stumbled onto this display of bound books used as clever display within a clear glass cocktail table. Bound with belts!

Clever, fashionable, and green - what better way to recycle old belts than to give them a new purpose and add a little creative drama as well?

Timothy Joseph Interiors just returned from the Windy City and progress is being made on a what will be a stunning four story townhouse on Lake Shore Drive.

Here a floor has been removed and the fireplace decorative chamber has been extended to the second floor. It's been clad in stacked white quartzite for a modern and dramatic effect.
